 Terra-Flex™ Flexible Terrain System
 Sulfur Fields Gaming Mat

The Sulfur Fields are the relics of long forgotten devastation. Twisted elemental forces ripped these places into being with the very innards of these lands spilling out their vitals in heated, gaseous, wrath. It is a curse upon any foolish enough to investigate the secrets therein. Only the most stalwart flora or fauna survives here. Yet there are many who believe that it is their gods given right to purge these lands of their questionable ecology. So within these inhospitable Despoiled Reaches™ many battles are fought, won, and lost.

The Terra-Flex™ Sulfur Fields Gaming Mat is available in 4ft x 6ft (122cm x 183cm), 4ft x 4ft (122cm x 122cm), 3ft x 3ft (92cm x 92cm), 30in x 30in (76cm x 76cm), 2ft x 4ft (61cm x 122cm) and 2ft x 2ft (61cm x 61cm) sizes. These flexible battle boards can be spread out on the floor, draped over a small table, laid across your favorite gaming table, or even glued down on a permanent base. Once the game is over the mat can be easily rolled up and stored away in the convenient plastic sleeve that it was originally shipped in, taking up little more room than a folded up umbrella.

This is a close-up of the unpainted mat straight out of the package. We recommend using acrylic paints applied in thin layers using wash, dry-brush and scumbling techniques. Primer should not be used, nor any paint applied in thick layers as it will possibly crack.

Can these mats be given a dark contrast using shoe polish?

I saw on the Hasslefree site how some resin models could be gone over with shoe polish, and then the excess is wiped off. I was wondering if this would work on your mats?

Cheers.

I love the idea of these; how about something more urban/industrial for players of modern/future games like AT-43 or 40K?

Yes, There's no reason why you can't. The only downside to it I can see is that you couldn't paint over the top of it because of the wax in the shoe polish. But if it's the final step, then it would be fine.

We will be coming out with both an urban and an industrial/steampunk type mat sometime in 2008.

How about a cobblestone mat?

See it all here:http://corpcommander.blogspot.com/2008/04/zuzzy-mat-finished-for-at-43 .html

I finally finished my Zuzzy mat. I painted it up for Operation Damoclese which is a Therian "factory world" - basically a giant nano-machine generator powered by a small star and the size of a planet! The description for it and the basic concept art shows a world that can enter flux at any point. Buildings can appear or disappear in seconds. Anything that the EMI grid can produce can appear. Of course what makes it possible to fight the Therians is that their EMI grid has tremendous contention as all the overseers seek its resources.

With that in mind I opted for a lava-flow look. I was very happy with the final results. It photographs nicely but looks a lot more "glowy" than it really is. If you have never seen a Zuzzy mat before I highly recommend them. The company shipped it to me fast and it is of very high quality.

As for the game, it was fun. I am sure I will run many more games of AT-43 on it.

Thanks for checking it out.

Habsley,

We're working on a cobblestone mat now and expect to release it later this year.

Pete,
Wow! That's a sweet paint job. Thanks for the link. We'd like to see more people post pictures of their completed Terra-Flex mats online, as we're curious to see what everyone is doing with them.
